Teacher Cadet-
(see your guidance counselor ASAP if you would like to enroll for the 2012-2013 school year)
Unfortuantely there was not enough student interest to hold the class this year; however, I am hoping that we can raise interest to reform the class for the 2012-2013 school year and possibly create a chapter for the professional co-curricular organization : FEA (Future Educators Association).
See Ms. Knappenberger in room 203 if you can meet the criteria listed below to sign up and bring back Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow- Teacher Cadet at Lakeland!!!:
-Junior or Senior during the 2012-2013 school year,
-Minimum 2.7 GPA,
-Taking College prepatory classes or seeking advanced diploma (TC is equivalent to an AP course when dealing with workload, maturity and pacing),
-5 teacher recommendations (part of application process)
-Essay on why you would like to take the course (part of application process),
-Little to no discipline record (part of application process),
-Service time spent with school teachers (filing, stapling, etc),
-Interest to perform observations and field experience in the elem. middle and high schools,
-Enthusaism for the profession or to determine if teaching might be the career for you,
-Scholarship oppertunities as well as membership in a professional organization (FEA),
-A step ahead of your peers when embarking on your college path (dual credit possible depeneding on amount enrolled).

The guidance office will also have brochures and information pertaining to the course.

Look for us at new student orientation, and open house. I will also be sending a letter home around January/February to all those who qualify as well as having an after school pizza party for all those interested to ask questions, learn about the course and pick up an application right before scheduling begins.
